World-Changers Developed.

Food for the Hungry (FFH) country director Luis Sena wrote the chapter explaining how FFH sponsorship, which includes IVCF Illinois, has been so successful in the region of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, that funding for a community in that region is no longer needed.

ISR Small Groups sponsored a young girl from the region named Josefina. They sent funds, letters and cards to her each year.

Below is the letter from FFH Dominican Republic country director Luis Sena:

Dear Sponsors and friends,

After 16 years in the community of El Nazareno, we will be closing our activities in the community at the end of November. We would like to express our appreciation for your faithful support during much of this time.

The families of El Nazareno were blessed in all aspects (spiritual, social, intellectual and physical) and are now living out their God-given potential, according to biblical principles.

Before FH began work in this community, there were no schools, little access to potable water and most homes had no toilet facilities. Older children had to travel miles to attend school in other communities and many did not attend school at all.

The community now has a complete school building. All school aged children are attending and families are now able to provide for their supplies, uniforms and other needs. El Nazareno is a flourishing community, where all family-heads are either employed or self-employed. All homes have a latrine and the overall health in the community is in good condition.

The leaders in the community are quite grateful for all the training and support received. They are now capable of negotiating future projects with local government and non-government organizations for the continuous growth and development of their community.

The church in El Nazareno came to understand the importance of ministering to all ages in their
community in a holistic manner. They are now conducting bible studies for all ages, and church leaders are involved in all aspects relevant to the community life.

Your prayers and support for the ministry of FH are very important and we pray that you will continue to support us by sponsoring a new child in another part of the country where we are able to redirect resources.

May the Lord blessing you for your faithfulness,

Luis Sena, Country Director
FH Dominican Republic
